You are new to riding on the track. Don't even think of running a timer.

You are new to riding on the track. Don't even think of running a timer. I don't see the harm. I'm new and I would be curious to know what sort of lap time I can turn. Other than "feel" and the observation of others it seems like a good way to see that you are progressing.

Erik's got a point, but he didn't explain... Hopefully, I'll do his opinion justice. This is something we hear a lot (and said ourselves) but what so often occurs is a rigid focus on the numbers when there is SOOO much technique left to learn. When you're new it's easy shave seconds off your lap times, but you could be creating and reinforcing bad habits and not improving (even though the clock says so) You'll drop a lot more time improving your skills without ever knowing what your lap times are.
Lap times tend to impede progress of new riders.

Say this in a Yoda voice.
"We need work on getting around better, not faster. Better will be faster if faster is not the focus"

Ah yes, we mustn't ignore the means to reach the ends.

i noticed that TTP says were racing the FULL course, not config C like most all of us are used to.
1: is this true? 2: will the friday and saturday track days also be running the full course configuration?

I would think Sat at least would be race config. Wait to hear from Sam or the board members to find out.

Like Dale said, C course Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The A course is shown like that because it is the only image on RFR's website.
In the future they might run different configurations. It's been suggested to them to run a series at RFR where they run a different configuration every race. Almost makes it like a new track every time.
