HI Everybody! A few of us are going to the Keigwins date at buttonwillow on March 5 & 6. www.keigwin.com/events_schedule.phpMarch 5 $170 and has A, B+ and B- groups. (Keigwins doesn't have a "C" group). Also has an optional AFM new racer school. March 6 $250 and is the Ken Hill Racing School with Keigwins on-track instructors, 2 groups, no B- . I talked to Lance and he set us up with a Sportbike775 group. The way it works is that once 7 people sign up and pay the 8th spot for that day is free. I'll coordinate with Lance on how we work out the 8th spot or one credited back the price, etc. I'll suggest up front that the people who sign-up & pay will get to decide how we split it up. Sound fair? If I'm not mistaken this is the track that they run: So who's in?

You're actually going? I thought that you said the Pridmore school was better and Buttonwillow was too far to go?
I'll be there.

It's worth the drive. Ken is the best and it's my second favorite track. It will give you an idea of what RFR should aspire to be. Maybe take the managers down there so they can see what a track is supposed to be like.

Don't know that I'll be bringing anyone with me other than SBK775 peeps tho... BTW I think the track manager knows a bit more than people give him credit for given his background in auto racing.... (-John Wood, Former driver in Camel GT, CART, USAC, IMSA, GTP and formula cars. Current manager of Reno Fernley Raceway Park).

1. So what days are people heading down? 2. What does Ken's school entail? 3. How are you getting there? Down I-5? 3a. If yes would anybody give me and my bike a ride? Buttonwillow looks fun. 4. </end threadjack>

You'll want to head down on Friday. Go home Sunday or Monday. It's a five to six hour drive depending on if you are towing a trailer or not.
Ken's school is 2 groups doing 45 min sessions. When you aren't in track he has classroom sessions to tell you what he wants you to work on while you are on track. He will go over everything from figuring out corners to braking to body positioning. Last year he also did a mock race and several race starts.
The fastest way down there is 80 to 5. The track is right off of I-5 in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town is 12 miles away.
Buttonwillow is a great track. It has many different types of corners and is extremely challenging to go fast. It's not the smoothest track but the fast lines on the track are smooth. It's definitely worth the drive.

We are up to 4 of us already for Sat / 3 for sunday.
Anyone else interested in going? Remember to put Sportbike775 in the "Special Instructions" box on the payment screen.
Once we get to 7 Lance will let me know and we can determine how to use the free spot on whatever day it applies. This is for SBK775 members so we will share in it. :-)
