This isn't the most likely place to find it, but I'm collecting parts to restore a '63 Velocette Venom and need one or two 19" 40 spoke rims for the project. The ones I want are the shouldered aluminum style (Akront-Morad, Borrani brands). They don't have to be new but no cracks, bends or warpage. Widths between the inside beads of 1.85 and 2.15" are preferred. Whole wheels with the right rims are OK -- you can even have the hubs back.
New, polished, smooth 19" Akront rims out of Henderson NV on eBay run $113, so something in the $25-50 range, depending on condition will be good.

hey bill another project? cant wait to see it!!! If I can figure out how to post a picture Dan, you will see the "before". Well, technically it's after the before. I bought it as a rolling chassis; engine and transmission and a lot more parts in boxes -- most of which were unfamiliar to me. I had to put it together (loosely) to find out what I had and what is missing - then take it apart to begin restoring it. Give me a year or two and I'll have something to show you. Bill Attachments:

Hello by looking at the pic of the bike you should try DYNA RENO 608 E fourth street 3238846 his name is ed. There are several rims there tell him I said hi Ed is either bookie collecting on Superbowl bets or they leave the phone off the hook at DYNA RENO - I've called a bunch of times today and always get a busy signal. I'll keep checking and drop by the shop next time I get up to Reno.

why not just re-chrome those or are they not original? are they beyond steel wool? I could re-chrome the original rims or even use SS rims, but I happen to like the looks of the shouldered alloy ones. If you recall my SR500 has those rims. And, Dunlop shouldered rims were offered as a option (about 5 pounds extra) by Velocette "in the day", so I'm not going off the reservation by using them. Attachments:

Turns out that Ed is not a bookie, he owns the Italian bike shop on 4th street. He probably leave the phone off the hook while wrenching. VERY knowledgeable guy. Pretty much limited to new rims tho.

The phone is busy when he goes on the internet. I have tried to get him to covert to cable internet but he is stubborn. Please keep trying also I tried to chrome some wheel at abc plating and they said they don't do rims if you have a place please post. Or call abc plating
1550 Industrial Way Sparks, NV 89431-6012 (775) 358-2929 and see what they say they also told me that they polish aluminum
