So im new to riding in al ways, I bought a 96' cbr 900rr that had been laid down on both sides. My plan was to fix it back to stock. Things changed learned a little bit. So now im in the middle of a build. Plan to be riding by may. And hope to get out to the track and learn some new things. Also learn what I can from you all that know the mechanics of bikes. And here is what it looks like.

Hi and welcome.
What's your plan with the bike? Street form or track dedicated set up?

Welcome to the forum, L.J. I like your bike, it looks badass with the single projector beam headlight. I'm fond of the naked style.

I plan on using it for the street and maybe try out the track. It is a big bike but it was only a little over a grand and I was in a here and now mood.

Okay im kinda confused with this forum compared to others I am a part of. It seems most the talk here is about racing. Now I have only had a bike for less than a year and only rode 3,000 miles. I feel out of place except for the people I personally know on the site. Where do I post questions about my build, street riding, and other random questions. And would anyone be interested in riding with me to help me as a new rider?

Many of the people on this form race and or do trackdays which we encourage you to do as it makes you a much better rider much faster. There are lots of people around who do lots of street riding as well. I am actually president of a sister club in town which focuses primarily on Sunday rides as opposed to the track like this one. I kind of also provide the sunday rides for anyone in this club who want to ride on the street. You are more than welcome to come join us. We can of course work with you a little bit to help improve your skills, though it's much easier to work on that stuff on the track. I'll be posting the ride schedule here soon. It's made, just have to get it posted. My site -->The Nevada Sportbike Club www.ridensc.comAlso builds/mechanical questions go in the garage section and random stuff goes in general

...It seems most the talk here is about racing... That's probably just because we're all jazzed up about World Superbike kicking off the 2011 racing season this weekend.

Okay I need to learn a lot still, I talked to Myron for a while last night. He was very considerate to let me in on some knowledge. I need to set my suspension to me, I never knew that. He explained it but it would be nice to have some help to do it. Also im planning on taking the beginers MSF course to educate myself some more before the season.

Welcome aboard LJ. Most everyone here started where you did. The reason there seems to be a slant here is that a lot of us went to the track to improve our riding skills after MSF. Some of us tried and learned the hard way that the street is a hard place to properly tame the beast that lives inside of us as sport bike riders. Once at the track, the fever really sets in and we become addicts. We talk about racing as a lot of us are posers and can only dream of doing something other than bench racing Relax...enjoy...learn what you can. We'll be doing street rides and having regular bike nights to socialize once the weather warms up. You'll find plenty to do with this bunch of hoodlums ;D

Actually the northern group up in Reno still meets for bike nights on Thursday nights at Boulevard Pizza. I can't make it this thursday as I'm getting ready to go to buttonwillow for a trackday this weekend but I am sure a few others will be there.... :-D
