... FOR saving my first race weekend!!!
the buell ran like a champ all day saturday during practice and qualifying ..
..and then sunday its as though the bike realized it was going to be in a race, and wanted ZERO part of it!!! i got exactly one lap of morning practice before it started backfiring, running like crap and wouldnt accelerate. got it back to the pits, looked over the obvious problems it could have been to find nothing.
both youngster and justino stepped in at the last minute (literally!!!), volunteering their bikes for me to ride. since justino's was a bit more compatible with my size and weight, i ended up racing his honda 600rr for the day!
the best part was that despite riding a bike that i LITERALLY rode from in his pit to the hotpit entrance , i still ended up running lap times that were within 3-4 seconds of what i normally do on my bike after taking 2 laps to get comfy on the honda!!
AGAIN THANKS JUSTINO AND YOUNGSTER for offering their bikes up with no hesitation to me!!
this is why i ride with you guys.. the most caring friends ive got are all of you!!
ive torn my buell apart last night and this afternoon, and have become fairly certain that i roasted the front ignition coil. its not the fuel pump as i originally had thought... and hopefully i can get a new one in before next monday for my t-hill day!!! [eek!!!]

Justino is an amazing person. His support for the racers and this club is amazing.
I could only hope to be half the club member, friend & rider that he is.

I'm guessing ANY number of people would have offered you their bike to ride. Paul and I just found out first, and neither of us take 'no' very well. You didn't even have a choice in the matter once I decided.
I'll never forget what told you after the first race. I channeled Zoran!
"I know you're faster than that, and I KNOW that bike is faster than that. . . So when you get on twist the throttle, and KEEP twisting. I don't care what happens to it, or how you return it, just KEEP the RPM's over 10 thousand"

I don't care what happens to it, or how you return it, just KEEP the RPM's over 10 thousand" the second race, what you said to me kept repeating in my head. i took what i learned quickly from the first race and applied. i found the rev limiter quite a few more times, along with the slipper clutch as i downshifted into past the redline a few times. pulled wheelies 3 out of 5 laps getting back on the gas from the rear straight!! what a hoot it is to rail on a 600.. theyre very forgiving of throttle input compared to my bike that would buck me off immediately if i made those kinds of thottle and brake changes. i could see myself getting used to one of those bikes wayyy too quickly!!

The slipper clutch is electronic. Sometimes is surprises me as I expect more engine breaking that the bike delivers. I routinely skid, hop and slide the rear at RFR (bumps) but it's easily managed. I rarely loft the front tire at, except on 22 where it happens frequently if I don't short shift the bump before the dog leg.
