Hey Guys, I thought I would create a thread for any questions you may have for this event. Im going to start with the most common one I keep getting asked which is . BIKE PREP We are keeping this as simple as possible for all you guys regardless to what our tech sheet asks for, if you follow these basics you will be ready to race. All bikes need to have aftermarket case covers OR case cover sliders. Street body work is acceptable provided all lights are taped off. Safety wire requirements will consist of Oil filter,Drain Plug,Oil fill cap and any loose lines or hoses on your bike. Coolant must be drained and replaced with WATER. Any other questions please post em up here.

There is usually a list of specific bikes that are required to have case covers.
Taken from the AFM rulebook.:
SIDE CASES: Aftermarket side cases for AMA approved case guards are required on : Honda CBR600RR and 1000RR, left side; Kawasaki ZX6RR & ZX10r, both sides; all Suzuki GSXR models, both sides; Suzuki 600 and 1100 Bandits, left side; Suzuki 600, 750 and 1100 Katanas, left side; Suzuki SV650 & TL1000 right side clutch cover; Yamaha YZF 600, right side; Yamaha FXR 400 and 600 models, right side; Yamaha R6, both sides; Yamaha R1, left side. After-market cases may be required on other models at any time it is determined to be in the interest of track safety. NO CARBON FIBER COVERS ALLOWED.
Thats how it reads in the AFM book. So according to that the SV needs and After-market clutch cover. Now whether tech knows or pays attention to that is another thing. Not sure if that is going to affect what Sam has already posted, but let him respond here.

Interesting I have never seen a SV at a AFM event with after market clutch side covers I just looked in the Parts Unlimited book and can't even find anything for the SV. It could just be a typo.

Thanks Steve, So Alan we will go with what AFM allows, SO YOU RIDE IT THE WAY IT IS! I have watched them tech you at T-Hill. So obviously it is fine the way it is.
Guys, anyone needing to have the bike taken care of for tech, Steve or Brian can help you here. They obviously know how to access the rules for case covers.

I dont have case sliders or after market case covers on my AFM spec SV? How can you get aftermarket case covers if your engine wasn't even made with case covers?

the extra $50 is per race class you enter. If say you enter Production and want to race superbike too its only another $50.

Here is some clarity on the Case cover requirements...
Aftermarket Case cover are required on the following bikes. CBR600- left side CBR1000 - left side ZX6-Both sides ZX10R-Both sides All GSXR models-Both sides Suzuki 600&1100 Bandits-Left side All model Suzuki Katanas-Left side YZF600-Right side FZR 400 & 600's-Right side R6- Both sides R1- Left side
Guys I cannot get around this, you must have it if you would like to race. I had a conversation with Brian from SPL today. He is willing to sell you the covers 10% over his cost just to make sure you can race. Give him a call if you want to price them out. 775-825-4457
