Did you just say the 40 wt is thicker then 50 wt? Just for reference, the higher the number, the more resistance to movement and flow. So if you want to use that word... the higher the number, the "thicker" the oil. Just remember, this is only one part of the puzzle as we've been saying all along.

Is the oil pan the same. If the pickup tube is in a better designed oil pan that might make a difference. All those parts are showing the same numbers. From what I can see they changed the brearings alone. Not sure if the bearing change is material, dimensions or both. in the yfz450 it was an oil passage in the case that opened up and squirted oil directly at the crank-rod bearing at least that is what i was told and that is a mod that was performed by the aftermarket mechanics. the problem was fixed in the 06 models

We can let the population increase 700% in a century and create social services systems to allow reverse Darwinism, but two strokes are killing the planet.

No, two strokes are legal. New ones just have to pass emissions like the four stroke. Ktm actually made a 125 that passes California vehicle emissions. It's not imported because no one wants them.

Sorry, I was talking about without lots of restrictions. The last US one in non midget size was the Bimota Vdue with direct injection. They had massive problems getting it to meet mad restrictions. We had real two strokes in 500 road bikes until the late 80's. My first road bike was almost a NS400R but it got sold just before I had my dad talked into helping me buy it. Bought a used VF750 Interceptor instead but always loved the 2 strokers.

The restrictions are the same as the 4 stroke emissions. I'm all for 2 strokes but it's hard to argue the fact that they are much dirtier than four strokes. Unfortunately there is no way of saying that burning oil is good for the environment, no matter how you put it or how much power two strokes make. Maybe one day they'll come back. I just have to figure out how to make a two stroke oil that burns cleaner than gas. If I figure out how to do that you will all be invited to my personal racetrack (but it'll probably be in California).

I just have to figure out how to make a two stroke oil that burns cleaner than gas. If I figure out how to do that you will all be invited to my personal racetrack (but it'll probably be in California). Oh my, you're missing my point. Obviously a 2-stroke is not as clean burning as a 4-stroke but I sense that I have upset you and as the logic goes against your beliefs. I know this is not PC but being PC is destroying our lives so let me be clear about my comment as you're twisting my point. What I was saying is that we've been robbed of the beauty of 2-strokes because of emissions becoming ever stricter, they simply cannot compete. By the same virtue, 4-strokes have been limited and hamstrung by fueling issues as they attempt to meet tighter restrictions. You have groups like CARB who fine Dynojet and essentially force them to produce something customers don't want. Here is the meat of my statement. Liberals have no issue with impacting my life and what I can enjoy in the name of mother earth yet they want to support social welfare systems for people who should not be breeding anyway. We've taken the planet and in a century increased its population 7 times and as humans produce carbon dioxide (the major GH gas) and each person consumes, we stress our environment. What we need to do is make it less desirable to have children and drop the birth rate for uneducated as is has for the educated. I am currently performing consulting services for a company that mines potash, this industry has exploded because we’ve overpopulated this planet and need to mine to obtain minerals necessary to fertilize fields. Do you see the madness in that? At some point we’re going to hit a wall and no matter how much you cut the emissions of a motorcycle, we’re going to get to something the world cannot handle. Over population is the real problem. Some hippie with a desire to support the poor, give (MY) money to support women on welfare with 5 kids and “feed” Africa instead of letting it starve thereby allowing natural selection to take place believes he has the right to force me to drive some POS. Hypocrite. I used to deal with those morons at the Chicago Credit Exchange when working on business related carbon offset programs and I can tell you first hand that I don’t believe there was the IQ of a box of rocks in the whole building. Ideologues so lost in their own BS that they can’t accept reality. Many is the day that I had to go outside and beat on something to vent my frustrations that people like that exist. They’re just as bad as those on the religious right because both groups feel that they are entitled to FORCE their ideals on you. Now, let me be clear, I am all for supporting clean energy if we’re also going to tackle the root cause of the problem but we’re not. Until then, leave me and my bikes alone. Finally, this is not intended to be a “mean” response to you, Oneup. It is just that your lean effectively supporting the crazy standards while not addressing the problem set me off. Blame it on me being in Canada at the moment if you like, I am always angry and upset when I am in this liberal hell hole as it reminds me of why I moved to the US and how the once great US is losing its way on the road to becoming one more socialist disaster. God forbid we actually look at history and understand that the socialist system always fails. Rant out.
